Infosys founder NR Narayana Murthy recently spoke at the Asia Economic Dialogue organized by the Ministry of External Affairs in Delhi.

During the event, Murthy warned young employees against moonlighting and suggested that they opt for work from office culture instead of work from home.

He emphasized the importance of ethics and discipline in the workplace and urged employees not to fall into the trap of working from home or moonlighting.

Murthy also spoke about the need for a culture of honesty and quick decision making in India. He noted that China has managed to grow to six times the size of India due to the culture it has imbibed.

Murthy shared his experience of setting up a facility in Shanghai in 2006, where he saw how quick decisions were taken and implemented without any harassment or unnecessary hurdles. He believes that India needs to adopt a similar culture to prosper.

Notably, Infosys has been against employees moonlighting from the very beginning and even fired some employees for practicing moonlighting a few months ago.

However, the company recently announced measures to make things easier for employees who want to earn extra money.

It now allows employees to take up gig work with the prior consent of their manager and BP-HR, as long as it does not compete with Infosys or its clients.

In summary, NR Narayana Murthy's recent speech emphasized the importance of ethics, discipline, and honesty in the workplace.

He warned against moonlighting and encouraged young employees to opt for work from office culture.

He also spoke about the need for quick decision making and hassle-less transactions in India to compete with countries like China.
